ACA Excursion - GreeceGreece - Sea Kayaking

This exclusive week for ACA members offers exciting opportunities sea kayaking, bicycle trips and Greek cultural activities, combined with other fun, active and social events on the beautiful Greek Island of Poros. Poros Island is located in the Saronic Gulf region of Greece approximately 32 miles south west of Athens, it is easily reached by hydrofoil in 55 minutes. It is an unspoiled traditional Greek island and early September is one of the best times of the year to visit. Poros Island and adjacent coastline provides the perfect location for short and longer kayaking trips, such as visiting nearby small islands, the volcanic peninsula of Methana, or circumnavigation of Poros Island. Sunrise and sunset paddles in the Greek islands are truly magical experiences. The paddling excursions are guided by a Brian Gibbons and ACA certified Coastal Kayaking instructors. They are suitable for all levels of experience activities and include opportunities to snorkel, visit ashore, swim and soak up the atmosphere of the clear blue warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Kayaking skills development can easily be incorporated into the daily activities. Your base for this 8-day vacation will be Odyssey Activity Centre, located in the small hamlet of Askeli. We are 50 yards from the beach and enjoy modern rooms with private baths. Each room is equipped with air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi. All included meals are provided at our adjacent Odyssey restaurant. Please invite your non-paddling companions, too. To make this a truly memorable vacation we have also included a wide range of other activities. Try a fun Greek cooking session learning to make well known Greek dishes. Go on a full-day guided trip to the UNECSO world heritage island of Hydra. We also offer guided walks and cycle trips to local cultural and historical places of interest. Choose whatever you like to do, it is all included in this multi-adventure trip.  Adventure Tourism Services, UK, (home base is Argyll, Scotland) has been operating since 2005, offering multi-sport trips to Greece, France and around the UK. It is a registered UK company and Brian Gibbons is the sole proprietor. Brian is a BCU Level 3 Sea Kayaking Coach, certified in wilderness level first aid and CPR and a certified guide for mountain biking. He excels at organizing trips for youth groups and is certified to offer/mentor the Duke of Edinburgh Award program. This multi-level program can be compared to achieving high-level Scouting awards. Cutter Aquatics has been doing business with Brian since 2006. He assisted us in planning and executing trips to Greece (2007 - 2013) and a trip to Scotland (2010). He exceeds our safety expectations for clients and provides superior customer service. His programs meet all the best practices promoted by the ACA.

ACA Excursion - Honduras

Honduras - Sea Kayaking

  • Dates: February 2-7 and/or Feb 7-10, 2013
  • Location: Island of Roatan, Honduras
  • Cost: $1450 (Feb 2-7) or $895 (Feb 7-10)
  • Hosts: Uncommon Adventures, ACA Instructor Michael Gray, and ACA Instructor Trainer Educator Josh Hall

Two great opportunities await you on this excursion.  You can choose one or the other, or stay for both!

Nestled just thirty miles off the Caribbean Coast of Honduras, Roatan is serviced by several direct flights and offers beautiful paddling, diverse local culture and world class snorkeling. This is a big experience combining kayaking, snorkeling and tropical biology all with a twist of the rich cultural soup of this island group. We don't insulate you from the local people, but instead work with them for a lot of our daily needs like seafood, bread, local transport and general sharing because they are as interested in you as you are them. The people of Honduras are every bit as appealing as the water and mountainscapes. We'll venture daily from our comfortable tropical fruit farm base in the village of Punta Blanca. Each two bedroom island-style casita has its own bath with freshwater air temperature showers and a nice screened-in porch to enjoy the breezes and the sounds of the sea. We also have a couple of ocean view hard sided yurts with their own bathrooms. You get all the comforts of home, minus ringing telephones, roads, and to-do lists. Our front yard is a coral reef! Meals are served from a central kitchen/deck area and are al fresco...as they should be. You can start each day with a morning stretching/yoga session on our deck over the sea. Professionally guiding since 1982, Michael Gray has been fortunate enough to be able to work out of a kayak in Alaska, Patagonia, New Zealand, Honduras, Belize, Florida and all over his home waters of the Great Lakes. He's been a speaker at over 50 kayak symposia nationwide.Whether its teaching outdoor cookery in New Zealand, teaching people to dive for lobster out of kayaks in the Caribbean, or fly fishing wild rivers of Idaho he has a wealth of experience that he enjoys sharing. He is an ACA Level 4 Coastal Kayak Instructor and an ACA Level 2 SUP Instructor.
