ACA Board of Directors Election Results
The election for the 2007 ACA Board of Directors is complete. Election
results nnounced by ACA Board Secretary Patti Carothers are (in
alphabetical order):
Jeff Dionne-Dickson (Saranac Lake, NY)
Joshua Hall (Charleston, SC)
Anne Maleady (Alexandria, VA)
Elaine Mravetz (Sharon Center, OH)
Robin Pope (Sylva, NC)
Steve Scarborough (Rockwood, TN)
Jim Virgin (Vancouver, WA) was also elected as Divisional
Representative to the Board.
Congratulations to these new and returning volunteer Board
members. The first meeting of the 2007 Board of Directors is
scheduled February 3-4 in Springfield, Virginia. Contact ACA Executive
Director Pamela Dillon for
meeting information.
The ACA thanks Roger F. Weigle, CPA of Manassas, Virginia for
certifying the 2007 election results.
2007 General Liability Insurance Coverage for Instructors Now
Available
ACA is pleased to announce the 2007 Insurance program for ACA programs
including sanctioned events, instruction, and Paddle America Clubs.
The 2007 program is patterned after the 2006 program with similar coverage
and benefits including a $5 million dollar coverage limit.
Certificates for courses are now being issued (use the 2006 forms until
forms are updated). Program fees remain at the same level as
last year. Check this link for

Paddler Magazine Names Glen Bernard as New Publisher
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->Paddlesport Publishing, Inc.,
publisher of Paddler and Paddle Dealer magazines, announce
industry veteran Glen Bernard as its new publisher. Bernard, who managed
Canoe & Kayak Magazine for 19 years, takes over
publishing management duties for Paddlesport Publishing whose former
publisher left voluntarily to pursue other business interests.
Glen stepped into the position in October 2007 and immediately began to
analyze Paddler to best reflect
the interests of the majority of our readership. Look for a reader survey
in the January/February 2007 issue which is scheduled to be mailed January

ACA Announces New Director of Recreation Outreach
Nancy Lear joined ACA National Staff on January 2 as Recreation
Outreach Director. She comes to us from Recreational Equipment, Inc.
(REI). Prior to REI, Nancy had a varied career at the American Red
Cross. Her last position was as Manager of a Health & Safety
Program & Customer Support Unit at the national headquarters,
providing technical and financial assistance to nearly 2000 chapters
across the country. Among Nancy's priorities will be bolstering
effective communication between and among Paddle America Clubs, focusing
on ways to provide more support to Activity Committees and
Affiliates. She will also work closely with ACA's corporate
partners, including Subaru of America. Nancy's can be reached at nlear@americancanoe.org.
