This course is intended to provide the minimum skills and training necessary for an adult leader possessing basic paddling skills (see prerequisite below) to lead a trip for participants with beginner level paddling skills, in gentle conditions, with apparent wind not exceeding 10 knots, waves not exceeding 1 foot and currents to 2 knots The emphasis of this course is trip leading, safety education and rescue, not paddling instruction.

Although this is not an Instructor Certification Course, students that pass the skills assessment component will be issued an ACA Day Trip Leader Assessment Award & Level 2 SUP Skills assessment Award verifying their paddling and leadership skills for employment as a SUP Trip Leader or Guide for Commercial Outfitters, camps, waterfront programs, paddling clubs, and outdoor programs.

This is a comprehensive SUP course appropriate for novice as well as experienced paddlers wishing to credential their experience in the ACA National Paddle Sports Program. This 5 day course includes two days of ACA Level 1 and Level 2 SUP Skills Instruction, and a ACA Level 2 SUP Skills Assessment to prepare the student for the final two days of Trip Leader Training. Students that can show proficiency at the ACA Level 2 pre-requisite may join the course for just the Level 2 and Trip Leader Assessment. Students MUST show proof of participation an approved ACA Level1/2 Skills course prior to Assessment.

This is also a great comprehensive course to prepare students for undertaking personal SUP trips and expeditions as it addresses trip planning, navigation, weather, safety, risk management, and decision making as it relates to SUP in the cold waters of Alaska.

Cost: $500
