The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Mississippi River Water Trail Association are working to bring paddling enthusiasts together for the 2011 Great Rivers Rendezvous scheduled for AUGUST 6, 2011. Activities for the day will include: an 18-mile competitive race, 10-mile social paddle, free paddling skills clinics, refreshments, music and more. All participants must pre register!! The free paddling skills clinics are first come, first serve.

The 5th annual Great Rivers Rendezvous on the Mississippi River is an 18-mile competitive race, organized by the Corps of Engineers and Mississippi River Water Trails Association. It will be divided into categories for men, women, tandum kayaks, canoes and a collegiate division. The race will begin in Grafton and end at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in West Alton, MO, just south of the Clark Bridge. Registration fees are $55 per person for the race and $30 per person for the social paddle.

The Rendezvous and the Mississippi Water Trail emphasize low environmental impact activities and promotes varied use of the river’s natural resources while adhering to standards of safety, efficiency and visitor satisfaction. For more information please call (618) 462-6979 or visit
