This annual Whitewater Canoe Instructor course happens each Spring in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Based in Asheville, NC, the Canoe Guru enjoys sharing skills and techniques acquired over 25 years of playing, coaching, and competing in canoes around the world. Instructor Candidates should look forward to modeling on the warm waters of Lake Julian, paddling past the Biltmore Estate, through the River Arts District, and surfing and attaining on sections 6, 8, or 9 of the French Broad River. If water levels cooperate, this course will conclude at Stackhouse on Friday afternoon. All new instructors are urged to join the festivities that weekend, soaking up fantastic music and participating in the "Paddle with the Pros" event, raft race, or mountain biking race on Saturday at the French Broad River Festival in Hot Springs, NC. Admission and camping at the festival is included for all instructor candidates although not required as a part of the IDW/ICE.
