The Watermanʼs Applied Science Paddle for Humanity started as grass roots paddling event back in 2009 as a way to bring the paddling community together in support of a common cause. Since that time the race has grown to become the largest national paddling series and has raised thousands of dollars for its non- profit partners. For 2012, the Paddle for Humanity is expanding to five events, including Dana Point, Deerfield Beach FL, Washington DC , Lake Tahoe CA and Austin Texas .

Community has always been the keystone of the PFH and the success of the series can be measured by the ability to bring the paddling community together to raise awareness and funds for causes we believe in. To this end, the PFH will be opening the series to traditional paddleboard, Stand Up Paddling (SUP), Outrigger Canoes, OC-1, OC-2, Kayaking, rec and specialty regional divisions.

First and foremost, the PFH is a fundraiser. This year we are increasing the number of organizations we will be supporting in an effort to increase the impact of our ability to positively affect change in the world. We will be selecting local and national non-profit partners that represent humanitarian, environmental and regional causes to be benefactors from the event series and share the support of the paddling community.

For 2012, our stated goal is to raise $100,000.00 for our charity partners through the Paddle for Humanity events and we look forward to working with athletes, communities and sponsors to make this happen. We invite you to get involved as a company and as a global citizen to make a difference in the world and help in supporting this event series.
