The Arkansas Canoe Club is planning an American Canoe Association Advanced Swiftwater Rescue Instructor Certification workshop for this fall. The dates are October 19-21 2012 for the Instructor Development Workshop and November 2-4 2012 for the Instructor Certification Exam. The location is yet to be determined but it will be in Arkansas most likely on the Spring River near Hardy AR or at Rockport near Malvern AR. The cost of the workshop is $450 ($225 for each part). The cost does not cover your lodging, travel, meals, or ACA membership fees. Membership in the ACA, along with membership in the Safety Education Instruction Committee (SEIC) and current First Aid/CPR are required for certification. Walter Felton (ITE) and Tom Burroughs (IT candidate) will be leading the workshop and while certification for every participant is our goal it is not guaranteed as a result of participation.

To confirm your spot in the training we will need a 50% deposit no later than September 1.

While the IDW is designed to help candidates get up to speed for teaching rescue skills candidates should come to the workshop with strong rescue and boating skills.

Please contact Walter Felton via e-mail at wfelton@ipa.net if you are interested in participating in this workshop

Thanks
Tom Burroughs & Walter Felton
