The race will be held on the Roanoke River Gorge right off the Blue Ridge Parkway here in Roanoke County.  Starting off the Parkway and running down to Explorer Park.  The carry to the put in will be steep but competitors will have assistance from Roanoke county.

The race is approximately and 2.5 mile sprint straight down the river and is geared at boaters of all abilities.  The main focus of the event is to get college students in boat and meeting a community of boaters!  This being said the competition can be intense and is always a whole lot of fun for those competing.

The categories include:
     OC2  - Tandem Canoe
     OC1 – Solo Canoe
K1 Short – Kayaks under 11 feet long
     K1 Long – Kayaking from 11 feet to 13 feet 2 inches.

Competitors can compete in 2 categories on the day of the event and schools and student must provide their own boats.  Rules can be found on the link below.

Another amazing option is the ability for this event to be tied into one of Roanoke’s most awesome festivals, The Get Outside Festival!  Not only will the festival be an amazing backdrop to the race but it also provides, free camping, and entertainment.
