The Spring Woods Canoe Group (SWCG) is offering an ACA Level 2 Essentials of River Kayaking Instructor Certification on March 13-15, 2015, on the San Marcos River in San Marcos, Texas. The Instructor Trainer Educator is Barbara Cutter, and the Instructor Trainer Candidates are Susan Eda and Tom Loesch.

Course cost: $250 for the course, plus once you are certified, you will need to join the ACA ($40) and pay your SEIC dues ($25) annually.

The first part of this course is an instructor development workshop emphasizing technical skill development and strategies to teach river kayaking from flat water through Class I rivers. The second part of this course is the instructor certification exam.

Students will be given assigned teaching topics and impromptu teaching topics to present to their peers and instructors. While no certification is guaranteed, students can be certified at a Level I or Level II River Kayak Instructor and will leave the course with improved skills and recommendations for your continued kayaking skills development.
