Come on a 2 mile paddle to Washburn Island! The Waquoit bay was created by receding glaciers over 10,000 years ago and is protected by barrier beaches and Washburn Island. The Island is a 355 acre state-owned park and we will land on the safe sandy beaches near the ocean. The shallow, warm water of the bay averages 3 feet in depth. It is rich in estuary life and is fed by three freshwater rivers and two saltwater inlets. We should also see some Herring, Osprey, and Fiddler Crabs.
