If you are currently an ACA certified instructor in any discipline and you have basic kayaking skills you are eligible to enroll in this Instructor Certification Exam for Level 2 Essentials of River Kayak.

Successful participants will be certified to teach beginning kayaking and be able to guide day trips on lakes and Class I rivers. You will perfect your kayak strokes and your boat handling skills and demonstrate teaching progressions and methods for effective feedback. We will practice safety, rescues and risk management strategies.

Please refer to Instructor Criteria on the ACA Website to understand the required skills and knowledge for each Level 1 and Level 2 River Kayak.

This course will be conducted at the San Marcos River Retreat in San Marcos, TX. We will meet from 8:30 to 5:30 each day to satisfy course requirements. The cost for this ICE is $260. Bring your own boat and gear or talk to us about rentals. After you register and make payment for this course you will receive a syllabus with our daily schedule and course logistics. If you are coming from out of town we can provide information on nearby accommodations.
