Guide Workshops 2016
ACA Level 2 Kayak Instructor Certification &
ACA Level 3 Coastal Kayak Trip Leader
Training: May 30 – June 2 & Testing: Aug 15 - 17

Offered since 2009 by Door County Adventure Center (DCAC), ACA instructor & trip leader workshops take advantage of the great open water paddling available around the peninsula on Green Bay and Lake Michigan. If the wind is blowing, there will be a location with Level 3 conditions. DCAC is Door County’s premier adventure center and has been providing professional adventure programming including sea kayaking, ropes courses and team building throughout the Midwest and Canada for 20+ years.

Workshop staff includes Sam Crowley & Tim Pflieger. Past participants highly rate their effective instruction, level of experience and team work.
Sam is an ACA Level 5 Advanced Open Water Instructor Trainer Educator with SeaKayakSpecialists.com He has been running ACA instructor workshops since 1999 and has extensive paddling experience with sea kayak expeditions including the West Coast of North America and in Europe.
Tim is an ACA Level 4 Instructor, Certified Ropes Challenge Course/Zip Line Instructor Trainer Inspector, nationally register EMT and owner/founder of DCAC. Tim’s growing up in Door County has led a lifetime as an outdoor professional including serving on the local fire department water rescue team and decades of paddling experience as an outfitter & guide.

Classroom location is in a turn of the century dairy barn at the Team Leadership Center. This modernized barn holds the classroom as well as indoor climbing facilities. The center is home to DCAC’s high & low ropes challenge course and is located on a farm in the country where wildlife is often found.

On water locations are abundant and can vary each day. The decision on location is made each morning based on the forecast, anticipated conditions and material to cover. If the wind is blowing, Level 3 conditions are often found.

Lodging is available within 20 minutes and camping is available too. A lunch plan can be purchased ahead of time. If a sea kayak and/or gear rental is needed for the workshop, arrangements can be made in advance.
