Event Overview: Paddle for HD is a fun, paddling event on Brice’s Creek being held to support HD Reach, a non-profit organization that provides information, resources, and support for families in North Carolina impacted by Huntington’s Disease. The event is open to all kayakers, canoeists, and stand up paddlers (SUP).

What is Huntington’s Disease (HD): HD is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their primary working years and has no cure. HD is known as the quintessential family disease because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 change of carrying the faulty gene. (Reference: hdsa.org)
