The Traditional Paddlers Gathering is Minnesota's first place to study and experience all areas of traditional qajaq culture, including building Skin on Frame qajaq, strokes, rolling and history. Dubside, honorary judge at the Greenland games, will be joining us, and you can expect to respect his knowledge and experience in all areas Greenland. Fred Randall will be returning this year, and will lead the way through skinning last years skin on frame qajaq build. Sipke DeBoer will again teach hunting and harpoon handling, as "The Gathering" is host to the now infamous "Minnesota Styrofoam Seal Hunt. The Gathering also features skills building by a host of well respected local mentors, and this year we will be adding a few new ones! Returning for the second year, is our "Handline Fishing" contest. This year the fish must be big enough to keep and eat, so with any luck, we'll have a lunch time fish fry!
