L-4 Coastal Kayak Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) Trainers Joshua Hall, Steve Hutton & Todd Johnston-Wright The ACA Instructor Certification program refines the paddling and teaching skills of already-competent paddlers aspiring to become instructors. Certification is based upon successful demonstration of technical competency and the ability to teach effectively in the Level 4 instructional venue. This Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) will allow aspiring instructors to experience the ACA curriculum and work on their own teaching techniques. Combined with additional personal experience and expertise in coastal kayak instruction, this workshop will help to prepare students for the Coastal Kayaking Instructor Certification Exam (ICE) being held later this spring. For more information, visit www.americancanoe.org. Course Prerequisites: Must be an ACA Level 3: Coastal Kayak Instructor in good standing, having taught and reported at least two Level 3: Coastal Kayak skills or assessment courses, and must have successfully completed a Level 4: Open Water Coastal Kayak Skills Assessment or Level 4: Coastal Kayak Trip Leader Assessment (effective January 1, 2016).
