ACA Moving Water Paddle Raft Course

PURPOSE - The ACA Moving Water Paddle Raft course is a minimum 20-hour program emphasizing safety, enjoyment, and skill acquisitions for new paddlers of inflatable craft. The course introduces and trains paddlers in the basic elements of river reading, moving water safety considerations, and paddling techniques. The program may be offered in public, private, and/or commercial settings.

GOAL - Safety: To paddle moving water (Class I & II) safely, perform self-rescue and respond to emergencies that arise.

GOAL - Enjoyment: To become aware of paddling opportunities and enjoy the rewards of lifetime participation in paddle rafting on moving water.

GOAL - Skills: To acquire the techniques, knowledge and skills needed to paddle a raft on moving water.

Prerequisites: A strong desire and ability to learn appropriate paddle skills, river etiquette, and river ethics.

Instructor Qualifications: This course may be taught by an ACA instructor currently certified as a Moving Water Paddle Raft course instructor or higher level.

Minimum Duration of Course: 20 hours (Instructors may lengthen the course at their discretion

ACA Whitewater Paddle Raft Course

PURPOSE - The ACA White Water Paddle Raft course is a minimum 32-hour program emphasizing safety, enjoyment, and skill acquisitions for new paddlers of inflatable craft. The course introduces and trains paddlers in the basic elements of river reading, White Water safety considerations, and paddling techniques. The program may be offered in public, private, and/or commercial settings.

GOAL - Safety: To paddle White Water (Class I -I II) safely, perform self-rescue and respond to emergencies that arise.

GOAL - Enjoyment: To become aware of paddling opportunities and enjoy the rewards of lifetime participation in paddle rafting on White Water.

GOAL - Skills: To acquire the techniques, knowledge and skills needed to paddle a raft on White Water.
