Position Title: Director of Finance (Full Time)

The American Canoe Association is an active and fun nonprofit organization that promotes canoeing, kayaking and rafting, as well as stewardship of our recreational waterways. We are seeking qualified candidates for the role of Director of Finance to help propel the success of the organization through sound fiscal management.

Successful candidates will have direct experience in financial management, budgeting, grant management, and tax law. Strong preference will be shown to people with nonprofit or government finance experience. The candidate should be a CPA or should be working toward a CPA certification.

Specific job responsibilities will include:
  • Daily management of organizational revenues and expenses
  • Payroll oversight
  • Budget planning and reporting
  • Supervise annual audit, 990 tax filings, and state charitable registrations
  • Regular interaction with related financial institutions
  • Regular interaction with ACA board of directors and staff
  • Supervise small administrative staff
The position is full-time (40 hours per week), and includes a competitive benefits package. There is future potential for this position to evolve into a role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Our work environment is casual and friendly, yet focused and demanding.

This position is currently located in Springfield, Virginia (Fairfax County), but will move to Fredericksburg, Virginia in spring 2008. Position will report to the Executive Director.
