ACA Logo Standards

Which one should I use?

There are two color and single color logos. The two color logos are the preferred logos and should be used whenever possible. However, certain instances demand single color reproduction. Within both the two color and single color logos are three different sizes. They are:

  • Small Version without tag – this version should be used for reproduction smaller than 7/8" in height. The logo should never be used smaller than 1".
  • Small Version with tag – this version should be used for reproduction 7/8" to 1" in height. The tagline of this version is slightly enlarged to make it easier to read.
  • Large Version – this is the version to be used whenever possible, always 1.25" or larger.
The logos available for download on this site are all ".jpg" files and work great for digital applications and some print jobs. If you require a higher quality logo, you can request by contacting the ACA at 703-451-0141 .

Now that I know which logo to use, how should I use it?

The new ACA logo looks best by itself. The common adage “less is more" most certainly applies. Here are some tips:

  • Be sure to keep sufficient space around the logo.
    • If you measured the width of the “A" from “ACA" in the logo and used that as a guide for white space surrounding the logo, you should be fine with spacing.
  • Never alter the logo in any way. Don't add text, remove text, stretch, squish, rotate, change colors, crop, insert your dog's picture, or anything else that isn't in the original logo.
  • Don't use the logo on a busy background. Plaid may be nice, but not with the new logo.
  • Don't use the logo in place of text. Ex: The (ACA logo) is over 125 years old!
  • Keep it simple.
    • Try to use two font families or less. Times New Roman or Arial are both good choices.
    • Limit your graphic elements.
  • Give the logo prominent placement.

Can I print the logo myself, or should I send it to a printer?

We recommend having your printing done by a professional printer. Printers can guarantee a result you are going to be proud of, and at the same time project a positive image of the ACA.

Printers will request the highest quality image you can send them, and will be pleased if you can offer them an Adobe Illustrator file. The ACA logo uses two special inks: Pantone Process Blue (the lighter blue), and Pantone 287 Blue (the darker blue). Figure out how you want your project to look, pick out a spot for the logo, and then send the logo to the printer and tell them which logo you want in your designated spot. They'll be excited to see that you're giving them print-ready files. That's what most printers prefer.
