Please welcome Zane Havens to the ACA team as the new Stewardship Coordinator.
After obtaining his degree from Albion College, Zane worked as a Hydrologist and GIS Technician for the Bureau of Land Management in Colorado, where he studied the surface and groundwater hydrology of the North Fruita Desert. Zane left Colorado and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii to train as a crew member for the Polynesian Voyaging Society's Worldwide Voyage, a program that will take the famous Polynesian voyaging canoe Hokule’a around the world to promote the preservation and celebration of traditional Polynesian culture, as well environmental consciousness.
Zane is also an avid canoeist and triathlete, having won numerous National Championships in ACA Whitewater/Downriver competition and placing first at the Outdoorsman Triathlon, the nation’s oldest continuing triathlon.
Founded in 1880, The American Canoe Association (ACA) is a national nonprofit organization serving the broader paddling public by providing education related
to all aspects of paddling; stewardship support to help protect paddling environments; and sanctioning of programs and events to promote paddlesport
competition, exploration and recreation.
