After the NTSB released their recent report on the overcrowding of several of our nation's waterways and the increased interactions between paddlers and motorized boaters, ACA Chief Operating Officer Chris Stec presented on this topic at the Inland Waterways Conference in Cincinnati, OH last week.
Attended by commercial boat operators, the Passenger Vessel Association(PVA) and representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard, the motorized community stressed the importance of all waterway users working together to ensure safety in high traffic areas.
The ACA will continue to strive to educate our members, and those taking ACA courses, about the applicable sections of the Navigation Rules and how they apply to paddlers.
