What's New from Your ACA?: Instruction

On Water Standards Survey

This short multiple-choice survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.  It's purpose is to establish a baseline for how familiar recreational boating education providers are with the standards, tools and resources developed and made freely available by the National On-Water Standards (NOWS) Program.  We expect awareness to be low since we have not yet begun to formally get the word out. However, the results of the survey will be helpful in designing the approach we take to share the news.

The survey is designed for recreational boating education organizations large or small (such as a school, business, or program), actively involved in delivering skills-based, on the water courses in recreational boat operation (for example, Annapolis Sailing Center, Buffalo Yacht Club, Brenda’s Lake-side kayaking school).  If your organization delivers instruction at multiple venues, please share this survey with the person at each venue who administers the course(s).

If you work for a regional or national association (for example, ASA, Sea Scouts-BYC, ACA, etc.) that allows its courses to be delivered locally by different organizations, please forward this survey to the people at the local organizations responsible for administering the courses.

We are interested in learning how much on-the-water instruction your organization provided in 2017, and how much of it included the NOWS Program standards, tools and resources.  The focus here is on developing entry-level boat operator skills.

They survey will end with an option to provide some brief demographic information about your organization.   It is designed to help avoid double-counting activities across the country. This information will not be included in the survey unless you provide permission to do so.  It will also ask if you would like to receive a copy of the survey results when completed.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact K. Brian Dorval at: grantfacilitator@gmail.com

Thank you again for taking the time to help us increase safety and enjoyment on our nation’s waterways.
