SPARK Creek-Watchers will host a creek clean-up day in August, 2014, that will highlight the work we have been doing as Creek-Watchers while engaging a wider audience. We will partner with SouthEast Expeditions, a local kayak company, and Williamsburg’s Bay Country Kayak to provide kayaks and kayaking instruction for the day. Volunteers will learn about water quality and then participate in a creek clean-up while on a kayak. Other partners include Eastern Shorekeeper and Eastern Shore Waste Watchers, who will be on hand to assist with trash removal and with additional educational opportunities for volunteers. We anticipate having 60 volunteers throughout the day from SPARK as well as from the local community.
