Federal Carriage Requirements for Boats
Share |

Every vessel is required to carry certain items, depending upon the type of vessel and where it operates.

Current Code of Federal Regulations(CFR) for Equipment Carriage Requirements

  • Carriage and use of Personal Flotation Devices:
    • 33 CFR 175.15
  • Carriage and use of visual distress signals:
    • 33 CFR 175.101

The National Boating Safety Advisory Council (NBSAC) passed a resolution advising the U.S. Coast Guard to modify certain section of the CFR as it related to non-motorized vessels.
