Intro To Canoe

The American Canoe Association program for Instructor certification in Canoe offers individuals the opportunity to become Instructors in Intro to Canoe, or as a way to develop skill on the path to more advanced certifications in River Canoe or Touring Canoe.

Each level is more complex and includes a level of difficulty and skills proportionally more advanced. Instructors may teach preceding courses, including Quickstart.

The Introduction to Canoe Instructor Certification
For Instructors who will teach on calm sheltered water in a light wind environment. Instructors are authorized to teach students fundamental skills including identifying hazards, basic concepts in craft handling and self- rescues in calm waters such as lakes or ponds.

The River Canoe Instructor Program
Been developed for those involved in teaching river skills, including among other things paddling technique, boat handling and the necessary skills for safe craft handling on rivers. These programs are designed for moving water and whitewater environments.

Touring Canoe Instructor Program

These programs include instruction on dealing with wind, waves and weather in exposed environments.
