Touring Canoe
 
The American Canoe Association program for Touring Canoe offers individuals the opportunity to become Instructors in Introduction to Canoe, Basic Canoe or Freestyle Canoe.

Each level is more complex and includes a level of difficulty and skills proportionally more advanced. Instructors may teach preceding levels, including Quickstart.

The Introduction to Canoe Instructor Certification

Dedicated to Instructors who will teach on ponds or lakes with no discernable current or wind. Instructors teach fundamental concepts in boat handling, paddling technique, safety, and self- rescue.

The Basic Canoe Instructor

Developed for those interested in teaching Flatwater canoe skills. The Basic Canoe Instructor will teach extensive boat handling, paddling technique, multiple canoe rescues, and an understanding of risks and hazards.

Freestyle Canoe Instructor Certification

For those wishing to teach the epitome of canoe handling skills for quietwater. This course requires absolute control of ones craft, and is the ultimate in skills, control and finesse. A working knowledge of Freestyle Competition is necessary.
