Canoe Poling
Canoe poling has a rich frontier tradition. Instead of paddling, a poler stands in the canoe and propels it forward by pushing off the bottom of the river with a long pole. Canoe poling is unique in that it allows individuals to travel upstream through moderate whitewater rapids. Races are conducted on downriver and slalom courses.
