Kimberly Jenkins

Department: Communications
Title: Editor of Paddle eMagazine
E-mail:

Profile:
Kim joined the ACA in September 2016 as editor of Paddle, your go-to source for news in the world of paddlesports.

A native Kentuckian, Kim grew up in a boating family and still enjoys getting out on the water for a cruise or a paddle around the lake.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Kentucky, Kim joined the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources as a wildlife technician. About six months later, the department expanded its Information & Education Division, and Kim took a position as an information specialist. Her main responsibilities involved writing for and helping edit the department’s bimonthly magazine, Kentucky Afield. Other duties involved updating the agency’s annual hunting guides, writing news releases, and writing and designing newsletters and various informational brochures.

In 2000, Kim left state government to take a job as the proofreader with a local advertising and public relations firm. Missing the outdoors aspect of her previous job, Kim joined the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators in 2001 as the organization’s editor. This was a brand-new position, since NASBLA had just taken production of its bimonthly magazine, Small Craft Advisory, in-house.

For 15 years, Kim’s main responsibility was managing the nonprofit organization’s magazine. She also served as the office grammarian, providing editing and proofreading services for the staff and committees.

She and her awesome husband, David, live in Georgetown, Kentucky, and enjoy traveling any chance they get.
