Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is our most popular wilderness medicine course and it creates a solid foundation in the basics of backcountry medical care. Wilderness First Aid covers topics ranging from preparation and prevention to assessment and treatment. This 16-hour certification provides entry-level training for outdoor enthusiasts and those working in the outdoor industry who want to be better prepared for trips into the backcountry. This course was created in 1975 by SOLO and it was the first course of its kind in the United States; it is the curriculum upon which all other backcountry medicine courses are based. CPR is not included, but is offered on Saturday evening for an additional fee. This is an American Safety and Health Institute CPR and AED certification. Both certifications are good for two years.
