Picture the excitement of a child on their first canoe experience. And now you can help the Bronx River Alliance provide canoe opportunities for youth to connect with nature on the Bronx River! Join the 2018 Amazing Bronx River Flotilla and help us reach our fundraising goal of $65,000 to make canoeing on the river available to 1,000 kids and their families.

When: Saturday, May 19 (Rain date May 26)

Time: 9:30 am (registration begins at 8:30 am)

Start Location: Shoelace Park Kayak Launch at 219th and Bronx Boulevard

How does it work? A designated captain will take the lead in forming a team of 4 -10 people (in 2 - 5 canoes) to paddle 5-miles down the Bronx River. Each individual will commit to fundraising a total of $350 per person. If you do not meet the 350 per person minimum, your credit card may be charged the difference. Individual spots are also available on our open team "Eels". We'll support you in reaching your fundraising goal by providing you with your very own online fundraising webpage to spread the word to family, friends and social network.

During this trip, you'll get a chance to paddle through the NY Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo, and get a close look at the fish ladder at the 182nd St. dam! Though we will offer on-site support, please be ready to carry or wheel your canoe with your partner at these portgage sites.

Registration fee $50 (Tax-deductible and applies towards fundraising goal). We will provide you with all the necessary equipment: a canoe, paddles and life vests for your team. To sign up for this event you must be 18 years of age. All participants will receive a t-shirt and a goody bag. There will be fun prizes for the top fundraising teams and individuals.

You MUST bring both the ACA Adult Waiver Form (found here) as well as the Consent to Use Name and Likeness Form (found here) on the day of the event in order to participate.

Public Ceremony and Celebration After the canoe trip, we will celebrate the winners and kick off an afternoon of festivities at Hunts Point Riverside Park, with music, food, and much more!

Spots are limited for the 5-mile paddle, so pull together your family, friends, and colleagues and form your team. Come up with an exciting team name and designated captain. For more information, take a look at the FAQs (found here).

Bronx River Alliance is a Non-Profit organization. All funds raised are tax-deductible.
