WHO: This course is for sea kayakers who would like to have their personal skills and technical knowledge assessed against a national standard. The Level 4 Skills Assessment is also the prerequisite for those wishing to pursue the ACA’s Level 4 Open Water Coastal Kayak Trip Leader or Instructor Certification.
Participants who successfully pass the skills assessment will have this accomplishment recorded with the ACA.
This training and assessment will be led by Jennifer Yearley and Sean Morley.

WHAT: This 2-day course will consist of a formative assessment of personal skills and technical knowledge. You will receive coaching (as needed) and be challenged with performing specific skills and tasks in authentic Level 4 conditions.
The conditions required for the assessment are at least three of the following:
*Open water
*Wind to 11-16 knots
*Surf to 3 feet (1 Meter)
*Current to 3 knots

The focus of Day 1 will be surf zone and we will watch the forecast closely and make a decision on location on the Thursday before the course. We will looking for the BEST conditions to practice and perform the skills we need to work on. Possible locations are Dillon Beach, Bolinas or Stinston Beach. Exactly where we go will be dependent upon the prevailing conditions.
The focus of Day 2 will be tidal current and we will meet and launch from Horseshoe Cove, Sausalito.

WHEN: Be changed and ready by 9.00am. We will be off the water by 4.00pm latest and wrapped up by 4.30pm.
