The first half of the course -- separately titled "Quick Start Your Kayak" -- involves some instruction on land prior to entering the water. Basic safety, proper paddle position and various paddle strokes will be addressed, as well as how to enter and exit the kayak. The fee for this 3-hour group lesson is $65. Private lesson is $85. An additional three-hour rescue session will follow after lunch for those interested in completing the full "Intro to Kayaking" class. This afternoon session will include wet exit and re-entry of the kayak, as well as other rescue-related topics.
