North East Florida has some of the best known rough water venues in the entire state of Florida! First Coast Outfitters and Nigel Dennis Kayaks have teamed up for what is sure to be a premier instructional experience! Join Dale Williams and a special guest IT, as well as the crew from FCO for an ACA Level 3 - Level 4 Rough Water/ Open water Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) We will be training in such venues as the " Ft. George Spit” located in the Talbot Islands, just a short drive north of Jacksonville, The St. Augustine Inlet, just south of Jacksonville Beach, and the Matanza’s inlet, just south of St. Augustine. All three venues offer a variety of conditions allowing instructor’s and coaches to build paddlers from the ground up. All of our venues are no more than an hour drive in any direction. This is a great opportunity to gain training and teaching skills from one of the most well respected and well known rough water coaches in the world. While gaining the experience and confidence needed to lead fellow paddlers in such conditions. Prerequisite skills should include wet exits, some experience launching, landing and bracing in surf. A roll is helpful but not required. Topics may include: Surf launch and landing , Open-water rescues , Navigation, Open-water towing , Risk management / Incident management , Sea kayak surfing , Tidal current skills , and much more!
