Cutter Aquatics is offering an ACA Instructor Certification Workshop L1 Stand-up Paddleboard Dates: Saturday May 31, 2014 through Monday, June 2, 2014. The course will begin at 9:00 AM Saturday and concluded by 3 PM on Monday. Location: McPherson Slough on Lake Grapevine, Grapevine TX Cost per person: $249 - includes 2 full days of training for ACA instructor development. Other course details: This course is suitable for adults 18 and over with basic SUP skills. This course is designed to develop highly skilled instructors to effectively teach SUP skills and knowledge to incomers to the sport, so that they can safely enjoy the sport of Stand Up Paddleboarding on lakes and calm bodies of water. It also emphasizes program management, leadership and judgement on the water, risk management and rescues and towing in deep water. The Instructor Criteria for certification can be found on the ACA website. Look at Level 1 SUP Your physical condition should be adequate for a three-day outdoor course that, at times, will require significant exertion. Bring your own board or contact us about local rentals. Participants must be members of the ACA - you may join through the ACA website. Participants must have an ACA instructor manual. We recommend you read this (approx 75 pages) before class begins. The book is available through the ACA e-store ($15 - $25). Participating in this course does not guarantee certification, but if certification is your goal we will work with you to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to be successful. To certify, each instructor candidate must meet the objectives of the ACA Instructor Criteria at Level 1: Introduction to Stand Up Paddleboarding. Upon successful completion of this course an instructor must register with the ACA Safety, Education and Instructional Council ($25 annually) We require a minimum of 4 qualified participants to conduct this course so feel free to distributed this information to other people you know who may be interested. To register go to the Instructor Courses information page on the Cutter Aquatics website. Please contact us if you have any questions.
