Cutter Aquatics is offering an ACA Instructor Certification Workshop for Essentials of River Canoe Instructor with Tarrant County College NW Campus Dates: Wednesday, May 14 - Friday, May 16, 2014. The course will begin at 8:30 AM Wednesday and concluded by 5 PM on Friday. Location: Fort Worth, TX -- Tarrant County College Campus on Marine Creek Lake -- 2 days; 1 day on a nearby river. Cost per person: $309 - includes 3 full days of training for ACA instructor development. Other course details: This course is suitable for adults 18 and over with basic canoeing skills. This course is designed to develop instructors for moving water, class I rivers, or flat water canoeing instructors. The Instructor Criteria for certification can be found on the ACA website. Look at Level 2: Essentials of River Canoe Instructor This course is suitable for adult scouting volunteers who wish to supervise Girl Scouts on river trips or Boy Scouts adult volunteers who wish to be come Canoeing Merit Badge Counselors. Your physical condition should be adequate for a three-day outdoor course that, at times, will require significant exertion. TCC has canoes available for this course if you will not be bringing your own boat. Reserve with us ahead of time. Participants must be members of the ACA - you may join on their website. Participants must have an ACA instructor manual. We recommend you read this (approx 75 pages) before class begins. The book is available through the ACA e-store ($15 - $25). Participating in this course does not guarantee certification, but if certification is your goal we will work with you to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to be successful. To certify, each instructor candidate must meet the objectives of the ACA Instructor Criteria at Level 1: Introduction to Canoe or Level 2: Essentials of River Canoe. We require a minimum of 4 qualified participants to conduct this course so feel free to distributed this information to other people you know who may be interested.
