OLER 299 ACA Whitewater Kayak Instructor 3 Credit Instructor: Limit 10 Start Date: 5/6 Lab Fee $100 End Date: 5/10 Location: Animas and San Juan Rivers The American Canoe Association (ACA) Whitewater Kayak Instructor course prepares kayakers to become whitewater kayak instructors. This course will develop and test the instructor candidate’s proficiencies in Safety Awareness, Technical Knowledge, Paddling Skills and Technique, and Teaching Ability. Completion of the class does not guarantee that instructor candidates will earn certification. Certification will be dependent upon teaching ability and paddling skills. This course is described on the ACA website as an Instructor Development Workshop and Instructor Certification Exam (IDW/ICE) for Level III and IV. Course meets in classroom on May 6 from 5:30-8:30 pm. Class will be in the field and classroom May 7 through May 10 from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Lab fee of $100.00 covers 1 year ACA Membership and Instructor Certification Dues.
