The Great Chickasawhay Race is a 21 river mile +/- canoe/kayak race that starts at the boat ramp in Shubuta, MS and ends at the Highway 84 boat ramp in Waynesboro, MS. Our race theme this year is “Red, White and Canoe“, so competitors and participants are encouraged to dress patriotically and also decorate their boats! A portion of proceeds raised will go to benefit conservation efforts on the Chickasawhay River such as Mississippi Wildlife Federation’s Adopt-A-Stream program. This is our 1st year organizing this event, and we are very excited to bring this competition to the Pine Belt. The Chickasawhay is part of the Pascagoula River Basin, the largest, free-flowing, essentially unfragmented river system in the Lower 48. A truly great American waterway! Please check out our website at, our Facebook event page "The Great Chickasawhay River Canoe/Kayak Conservation Race" or email us at for more information.
