An action packed introduction to kayaking. More intense and detailed than the QuickStart program, this course prepares you for a lifetime of kayaking fun – while doing it safely! Learn on-land boat handling and safe transportation on your car, getting the kayak from the car to the water, and how to safely and (hopefully gracefully) get in and out of your craft. Make your boat pivot in place, move sideways, forward, back, turn and stop. We will also introduce a variety of stability strokes/maneuvers to avoid capsize. We will spend considerable time discussing safety concerns and teaching you how to rescue yourself, your fellow paddlers and how to assist someone who can no longer paddle due to fatigue or injury. You will get wet & enjoy it!
