The Town of Halifax will be hosting a day long celebration of the Banister River, as well as other forms of outdoor recreation, at the Wild Blue River Festival.

The festival will be located at the new Kings Bridge Landing river access on the Banister River. The event kicks off with a kayak and canoe race, followed by an open paddle. The event will feature vendors and activities for the entire family.

The night before, join us on the Banister Lake for a unique stargazing experience! We will paddle the Banister Lake at sunset and watch the stars emerge. Halifax County is home to some of the darkest skies on the east coast, and our Staunton River State Park was recently named the 25th Dark Sky Park in the world by the IDA.

The Banister River is an official Scenic River of Virginia.
