Time is fast approaching for the annual Walnut 2 Walnut Challenge, September 17. This will be the third year that Philadelphia Independence Seaport Museum will host this paddling and rowing event. Check out the link:

This is a fun event that starts at Schuylkill Banks (on the Schuylkill at Walnut St.), heads down the Schuylkill then up the Delaware to Walnut St. and the Independence Seaport Museum. You’ll be going more or less with the current so the 15 miles will fly by; well, it does take some effort. Although each boat will be timed, you don’t have to race. This is a fantastic paddle through an urban setting; one of the highlights is paddling past the ships at the Navy Yard. You’ll be paddling with a wide variety of boats: open water shells, dories, recreational kayaks, sea kayaks, whale boats, dragon boats and who knows what else.
