WHO: This class is being taught by Sean Morley and Jennifer Yearley. It is intended for sea kayakers who have experience paddling on protected water such as San Francisco Bay and are seeking to expand their horizon to the open coast. You will ideally have had some limited surf zone experience and have solid bracing skills. A combat roll is NOT required.

WHAT: During a coastal journey of up to eight miles, we will help you assess and develop your personal skills and help you grow your knowledge and experience so that you feel ready to explore the open coast with other paddlers. Much more than a guided trip, we will take you outside of your comfort zone a little so that you can realize your potential whilst keeping you safe and having a lot of fun! We will also challenge you to think about what might happen if things do not go to plan.

WHERE: We will meet at Dillon Beach car park and launch from the main beach. We will go looking for the BEST conditions to practice the skills we need to work on. Exactly where we go will be dependent upon the prevailing conditions. Options include Tomales Point, where there are a multitude of sandbanks and reef systems that allow us to choose the energy level we want. Or we can head north to Estero de San Antonio and even so far as Estero Americano for a variety of rock gardens and surf breaks.

WHEN: Meet at 9.00am. Be changed and ready by 9.30am. We will be off the water by 4.00pm latest and wrapped up by 4.30pm.

WHY: This course is intended to build your skills and confidence so that you can explore the open coast with other paddlers. The skills covered in the course will help you prepare for the Level 4 Skills Assessment.

Class size limited to 8 students. UPDATE (09/09/16): Only 3 spots left!

COST: $119.00
