In partnership with the C. Thomas Clagett Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta, US Rowing, US Sailing, and US Powerboating, the ACA assisted in a multi-year study on lifejackets for people with various physical abilities.  This multi-year study and corresponding report was funded by the Bonnell Cove Foundation.

The study touches on several facets of lifejacket safety, both for able bodied and disabled persons. Results from the study include a discussion on the effect of body shape on lifejacket safety and usability.

The study also makes recommendations for those persons or organizations interested in educating themselves on key factors to consider when purchasing a lifejacket.

In addition to lifejacket performance data on people of various physical abilities, rescue techniques were shared between sailing, powerboating and paddling.
