Athlete Code of Conduct



All members of a National Team must review, sign and adhere to the ACA's Athlete Code of Conduct. All other athletes are also encouraged to follow the Code of Conduct, which offers a guide to conduct as a paddlesport athlete competing domestically and internationally, whether or not they are a member of a

USA National Team.

Reporting a Suspected Code of Conduct Violation:


If you suspect that there has been a violation of the Code of Conduct, please report it to the ACA by:


Violations of the Code of Conduct:


Upon receiving information pertaining to a potential Code of Conduct violation, the ACA Staff will take the following steps:

  • gather information from all relevant individuals
  • make a determination on whether or not a violation occurred
  • if no violation occurred, communicate to the athlete and any relevant individuals
  • if a violation occurred, communicate an appropriate disciplinary action to the athlete



Hearing Panel:


If an athlete's opportunity to compete is denied or if an athlete is charged with a violation of the code they have the right to a hearing.


The ACA Code of Conduct Hearing Panel consists of:

  • Director of High Performance & Competition - Chair of the Hearing Panel
  • High Performance Manager
  • National Team Coach
  • Discipline Committee Chair
  • Elite Athlete Representative to the Board of Directors

These individuals are listed here: Staff / Discipline Committee Chairs / Elite Athlete Representatives


If an individual panel member is unable to participate in the Hearing Panel, or if a Hearing Panel position is currently vacant, the ACA Executive Director may appoint another individual to serve on the Hearing Panel in that capacity.  The Hearing Panel must have at least 20% athlete representation.
