Official Team Announcement:

March 19, 2018

The American Canoe Association would like to congratulate the following athletes for officially being named to the Youth Olympic Games Qualification Event Team.

  • Amanda Creek – San Diego, CA (Downriver/Sprint)
  • Robert Healy – Washington D.C. (Slalom)
  • Zoe Hein – San Diego, CA (Sprint)
  • Ria Sribar – Auburn, CA (Slalom)

These athletes competed at the Youth Olympic Games Qualification Event Selection Race at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, GA on March 18, 2018 in Sprint and Slalom events as outlined by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). Each athlete qualified a spot to represent the United States of America at the Youth Olympic Games Qualification Event in Barcelona,Spain on April 12-15, 2018. During this event, each athlete will compete for a spot to represent the USA at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October, 2018.

This event requires athletes to compete in both Sprint Canoe/kayak and Slalom Canoe/Kayak events making the qualification process even more impressive given that athletes typically only compete in a single discipline. However, the athletes who qualified in Gainesville, GA stepped up to the challenge and were undeterred by the task of learning and training in a new discipline.

The American Canoe Association is proud to send an amazing team of young athletes to Barcelona and we wish you the best of luck in your upcoming competitions and beyond.
