The first of two remaining Olympic Team selection competitions in Canoe/Kayak Slalom will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, on April 12-14, 2021. The 2020 United States Olympic Trials is a three-day competition rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic
and the postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The second Olympic selection competition will occur during the ICF CSL World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic, on June 11-13, 2021.
Besides the Olympic selections, the event’s results will determine
athletes selected to represent the USA in Canoe/Kayak Slalom and Extreme Slalom at the 2021 ICF World Cups and World Championships and the 2021 ICF Junior and U23 World Championships.
The top three boats in each CSL event (WC1, WK1, MC1,
and MK1) and the top four boats in each CSLX event (WK1 & MK1) will gain a place on the USA National Team(s); however, only the top three boats in the WC1, MK1, and MC1 events will compete for the Olympic quota places. Suppose an athlete needs
to be replaced for whatever reason in an event. In that case, the ACA will choose the replacement athlete as per the ACA Canoe Slalom Athlete Selection Procedures for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, approved on September 20, 2019, and amended on December 22, 2020, February 5, 2021, and March 8, 2021.
