https://www.riverandocean.com/event/l4-intro-rock-gardening-2/ Northern California is blessed with one of the most stunning rocky shorelines in the world. As kayakers, we have a unique opportunity to experience these rocky shores up close and to use the rock features to explore, play, and build our skills. In this class, we’ll paddle out of Horseshoe Cove and under the Golden Gate Bridge to explore and play with the many rock features found along the Marin Headlands. You will learn techniques and strokes for paddling in and among rocks in the presence of surge and swell safely. You will learn how to use larger rocks for protection, how to time transitions and maneuvering through the rocks, will get introduced to play features such as pour-overs (riding waves through or over rocky gaps), and how to handle problems if they arise. We will explore slots and paddle through natural arches if conditions allow. This class will be taught by Jennifer Yearley To participate in this class, you should have surf zone experience and solid bracing skills. If you have any questions about the suitability of the class for your background, please contact Jennifer directly (jyearley@gmail.com) WHEN: We will meet at 9.00 AM ready to launch at 9.30 AM. Arrive earlier if you need more time to get ready! WHERE: We will launch from and return to the public boat ramp
