This is a weekend course that teaches how to canoe on Class I-II whitewater rivers. Appropriately outfitted solo or tandem whitewater canoes are required for this course.
We will review safety on flat-water and work on basic and advanced strokes and boat control. Then it's on to moving-water where we will practice maneuvers like catching eddies, making controlled peel outs, and learning effective ferries in fast-moving water. The course will develop skills in river reading, safety, rescue skills, necessary gear and equipment, and how to properly outfit a whitewater canoe.
