The 2014 Adirondack Canoeing Symposium is on scenic
Wolf Pond in Ray Brook New York.
Email charliewilson77@gmail.com with questions. For 2014 our Symposium runs six
days to allow participants time to explore the Adirondack
Mountains. Mornings focus on Solo coursework emphasizing
competent paddling; extreme heels and stances limited to specific
courses. Tandem coursework occurs afternoons, allowing solo paddlers to
experience FreeStyle’s duality. Afternoon Solo Topics include Paddling
the Inside Circle, Sit & Switch Touring, Creek Running, Canadian Style
Solo, High Kneel Thrusts, Gimbals and Private Sessions with Instructors of
choice. Wednesday will be relaxed. We’ll have a trip,
Slalom Races, Dead Fish Polo, an opportunity to try SUP paddling and an
Interpretive Recital with a few special topics, but intensive FreeStyle
coursework pauses to allow muscle recovery, and we dine at Lisa G’s to rest our
Culinary Crew. The expanded format allows paddlers to pick
individualized instructional tracks and combine courses with recreational
options. Opt for a day-long paddle trip Monday, Wednesday or Friday with
Adirondack Guide Griz Caudle or spend a day hiking, or site seeing in the High
Peaks. The Canoe Symposium is a relaxed vacation opportunity for paddlers
and their non-paddling families. Hot, cafeteria breakfasts and picnic lunches are
served in our community tent Monday through Friday morning. Dinners are
buffet style; provided Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday
dinner is Buy Your Own at Lisa G’s. Paddlers may serve themselves in
campsite or cabin, but meals are where announcements are made and group
comraderie developed. E-mail to join the Culinary Crew and earn courses. Reserve cabins at Sherwood Forest by calling Larry or
Laura Peryea at 518.891.4400. Options include one or two bedrooms, kitchens
and fireplaces. Ask about week-long and linen discounts. Sherwood’s
cabin fees include site use, fees apply for those staying off-site. We
will have campfires near the community tent, bring your own folding chair and
musical instrument. Pets are not welcome at Sherwood Forest.
Camping reservations for Meadow Brook DEC campground are at www.reserveamerica.com or call 800.456.2267. MeadowBrook C.G..allows
pets. The Adirondack [Technical] Canoeing Symposium offers a
relaxing immersion in the skill intensive sport of canoeing. Come fine
tune your canoe. This is a one time, widely broadcast, initial
communication and is the only one you will receive without your further inquiry
and request. To receive additional information, course offerings and
registration materials, Email charliewilson77@gmail.com. Hoping to see you on Wolf Pond,
Charlie,
